She didn't do it often. Then again, it wasn't like the chance presented itself all that frequently anyway. But it had, and she had, and the selection had been kinda grim, so that's how she'd got here and she was sure as heck never going to tell the captain. Hell, it was his fault she was here anyway, and that thought made her tighten her fingers into a fist.
"Ow." Saffron reached up and gently untangled her hair from Kaylee's hand. "Easy, sugar."
"Oh, sorry." Kaylee felt herself blushing, which was silly, seeing that three minutes ago they'd been curled up snug, just the way Serenity's new heat exchangers fitted up together, actually, only with more silky skin and less engine grease, and she could still taste Saffron on her lips.
"I can't say I expected to see you here," Saffron said, easing Kaylee's hand down under the covers and along the sleek rise of her belly. "But I'm not overly shocked. You finally figured it out?"
Kaylee let the feel of hair and wet flesh under her fingertips soothe the sting of Saffron's words. "Don't have to figure out what you see for yourself," she said, remembering the twin shocks of annoyance and understanding she'd felt on finding Mal and Simon goin' at it like horny teenagers in the captain's bunk.
Saffron kissed her lightly on the forehead. "Nevermind, honey," she said wryly. "Let's go again. This one's on the house."
